Lola Keyezua
THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :
When she was a teenager, Angolan artist Lola Keyezua experienced a trial that would mark her for life: her father had both his legs amputated. It seemed to her that his ability to protect her would also be amputated. But he continues to play his role, financially and emotionally, breaking down her prejudices about the disease. The work Fortia is in a way a therapeutic therapeutic. With the help of a group of crippled artisans from Luando, reminding her of her father's condition, Lola Keyezua has made a series of masks that reconnect with this experience and externalise it. His aim is to affirm the power and capacity of these marginalised people.
The Caring Gallery is committed to donating 10% of the sale of this work to the partner association of the exhibition.
