THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :

In his work For What it's Worth, the South African artist Dillon Marsh denounces the impact of mining activities on South Africa's natural landscapes.

He travels to copper, diamond, gold and platinum mines to photograph them, and then adds a virtual sphere representing the amount of gold and platinum mined to his images in post-production.
In Koffiefontein mine - 7.6 million carats of diamonds, the huge open crater and the relatively low yield associated with diamond mining (seen on a pedestal in the foreground) makes for a spectacular visual comparison.
