THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :

THE IMPRINT OF OUR BODY
The work was born from an image seen on the internet, in which a migrant had burned his fingerprints with a screw in the hope of escaping police identity checks, in Calais, France. The image shows his palms, turned towards the lens, streaked with lighter lines. In reaction, French artist Marianne Mispelaëre decides to translate this gesture with her favorite materials: drawing, time, the body and a performative process, conducted collectively and publicly. Sitting at a table, performers perform a simple gesture: regularly transferring on a sheet of paper the imprint of lines drawn one after the other with a Bic pen inside their hands. The immersion, brought about by the repetition of the gesture, is a commitment, transforming the act into an awareness.

The Caring Gallery is committed to donating 10% of the sale of this work to the partner association of the exhibition.
