THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :

THE VALUE OF BEING
It was in 2009, during a first trip to Cameroon, which will be followed by many others, that the French-Cameroonian artist Beya Gille Gacha discovered the art of beading: this traditional technique of the Bamileke ethnic group consists of covering an object with glass beads to reveal its value. The artist then chose to invent his own technique and transpose this ritual by beading his sculptures of individuals, faces or hands. This second skin, which has become an ornament, acts as a sublimation of the person. The Hands series explores the language of the hands and its capacity to communicate in a symbolic and universal way: each hand sculpture, adorned with beads, pays tribute to a gesture that has become a true medium of identity and ideas.

The Caring Gallery is committed to donating 10% of the sale of this work to the partner association of the exhibition.
