THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :

REINVENTING USES
Most of our dysfunctional objects end up in the landfill. In the age of disposability and programmed obsolescence, we have lost the habit - and the ability - to repair. Some manufacturers cultivate this throw-away/replace dynamic by designing products that cannot be disassembled, or for which spare parts cannot be found. Fortunately, initiatives such as fablabs or recycling centers are allowing the emergence of the era of everything-repairable.
The French artist Bertrand Planes specializes in what he calls HighLow-tech: creating works with the greatest economy of gesture and means. For the Life Clock presented here, he recovers a standardized clock which he diverts so that it does not advance at the rhythm of a day, but of a life. The second clock, 1.33 Clock, invites an imperceptible slowing down, thanks to a modification of the rhythm of the hands. With poetry, this artist reminds us that with a little time and knowledge, we can reinvent all uses, even those of products that seem the most standardized.

The Caring Gallery is committed to donating 10% of the sale of this work to ASF, the partner association of the exhibition.
