THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :

WATER AT THE ORIGIN OF LIFE
Rising water temperatures, intense droughts affecting its availability, increased flooding: water is a fundamental cursor for measuring the impact of climate change on the planet and on our living conditions. As a result of these aggravations, nearly five billion people could be short of water by 2050*. The management of this resource as a vital, precious and exhaustible element is therefore one of the burning issues around which states must mobilize.
With patience and precision, the French artist Capucine Vandebrouck keeps track of it in her work La mémoire de l'eau. To do this, she makes photograms of mist or ice: this technique consists of placing objects on a photosensitive surface and then exposing them to light, in order to obtain an image without a camera. Over time, the contours of the water droplets become lacy and the details are gradually revealed on the paper. Each copy, unique and life-size, is thus a part of this precious and fundamental collection.
